Highlights from the GTT Users’ Meeting 2024

Date: 26th – 28th June
Location: Campus Melaten, RWTH Aachen University

We are thrilled to share the key moments from the recent GTT Users’ Meeting 2024, where Karri Penttilä from VTT Oy showcased significant advancements with ChemSheet V2.1.

Presentation Focus: Simulation of Chemical Processes with ChemSheet V2.1

ChemSheet is an advanced thermodynamic multi-phase, multi-component simulation software integrated as an Add-in for Microsoft Excel. It leverages the well-known ChemApp Gibbs energy solving library to incorporate dynamic constraints and reaction rates for kinetically slow reactions, making it a versatile tool for simulating a wide range of thermochemical processes.

New Features in ChemSheet V2.1:
  • ChemSolver-module:This module enhances process parameter optimization and solves non-linear systems of heat and mass transfer equations, providing detailed phase compositions and enthalpies.
The ELECTRA Project

The ELECTRA project, funded by the EU, aims to electrify high-temperature production processes in the cement, lime, and pulp industries. ChemSheet plays a crucial role in this initiative, particularly in modeling the electrified circulating fluidized bed (eCFB) concept for the calcination of cement raw meal. The model has proven invaluable, allowing for rapid calculation of various design scenarios to identify the optimal layout for the 100 kWe pilot.

Looking Ahead

The GTT Users’ Meeting 2024 was a resounding success, thanks to the contributions and engagement of all participants. We look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts and driving innovation through the ELECTRA project.

Stay tuned for more updates and insights!
